Dear Yuletide Writer,
Thank you for writing for me! I’m a longtime YT participant and I love you whether this is your first or fifteenth time doing this fest. Let’s just start with my standard disclaimer: I’m a very easy recipient and 100% am fine with you going the Optional-Details-Are-Optional route. I’m fine with any rating. I’m fine with gen, slash, femslash and/or het. I’m not that fussed about top and bottom dynamics, so whatever you want there. Or switching is good. I love switching. As long as you don’t include my DNWs, I’m going to have a fantastic Yuletide reading whatever you write for me. Likes: Hurt/comfort, friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, enemies-to-friends-to-lovers, jealousy, mutual pining, wingfic, love triangles, bodyswap, fake marriages/dating, robots, arranged marriages, uptight characters losing control, drinking/drug use and romantic interludes happening because of those, weird impossible in real life dubcon scenarios: sex pollen, aliens made them do it, hypnosis, etc.

MAJOR SPOILERS FOLLOW
I’ve been in love with this series for nearly a year now, and would be happy with just about anything from fluff to sketchy drunk dubcon. I mainly ship Jean/Nino and Grossular/Lilium out of these four, but I’m pretty flexible and would be fine with any two-person pairing combination or gen with everyone. Don’t feel like you have to include all four characters unless you want to!
For Jean/Nino, I’m fine with any setting and any level of fluff or angst. Hurt/comfort where Jean’s taking care of Nino after his injury? Yes. Arguing over the way they decorate the apartment after Nino moves in with Jean and Lotta? Yes. Drunken shenanigans mid-timeline? Yes. Post-prom fic where Nino is filled with so much guilt that he can’t stand himself? YES. Oh, and I’d love a little AU action where Jean becomes king and Nino is his loyal knight. Can you imagine?
For Grossular/Lilium, I’d probably like to lean a little dirty, considering that whole hair pulling thing. One thing the series does so well is saying so much with so little. Those two seconds pushed me from ‘hmm interesting dynamic’ to ‘YES I GUESS I SHIP THIS NOW!’ and I haven’t come down from that since. But I’d also just love the conversation that originally led them to teaming up with each other.
For the other possibilities: If your heart is telling you to write Jean/Lilium where Jean persuades Lilium to bring Furawa back into the Dowa fold, then follow your heart (also fine with this plot for Lilium/Grossular). For Jean/Grossular – Jean canonically admires Grossular as much as Mauve admires him. Someone could definitely do something with that. Have Lilium and Nino ever even talked? If so, could I read them talking to each other? Maybe Lilium begging for forgiveness for trying to arrange Jean’s assassination. Also, have you considered Grossular/Nino? Because if you’ve seen the OVA where a drunk Nino thinks he’s calling his boss and calls Grossular instead, I bet you’re considering Grossular/Nino. I’d love a series of increasingly revealing phone calls between them.

Vantablack pigment feud RPF
Stuart Semple, Anish Kapoor
So Stuart Semple and Anish Kapoor are two real life artists, who got into an art feud late last year, as artists are wont to do. Their whole fight is over whether Kapoor should have the exclusive rights to a paint-based version Vantablack, which is the blackest black pigment in existence. And their fight is RIDICULOUS. Semple countered with things like THE PINKEST PINK! and THE GREENEST GREEN! and a black pigment of his own that’s safe for human use, and it was so delightful to me that I started threatening to request it for this Yuletide before we even got reveals for last Yuletide.
So. Here we are.

Let’s just say that I tagged one of my posts “I bet you taste like Vantablack” and that’s about the level of depth I’m looking for here. Humor, paint fights, grown professionals acting like high school students, and probably an ill-advised hookup. I also have no idea about the current status of the fight, so if you wanted to include some of that, that’d be cool, too. You know you want to write this, and I know I want to read this. Let’s just mutually pretend that they’ll never google themselves.

Bruno & Boots (Movies)
Cathy Burton, Diane Grant
Listen, I was FASCINATED by some of the updates the Bruno & Boots movies made to the original books, but chief among them was how Miss Scrimmage’s was transformed from a pretty typical girls’ boarding school, albeit with more shotguns than average, to basically a wellness center that turns out Canada’s future women leaders. I’d love an exploration of that with, you know, Cathy and Diane doing some exploring of their own.
Cathy and Diane are such a power couple with Cathy barreling headlong into everything (she’s worse than Bruno! How is that possible!) and Diane in the background, encouraging her schemes. I’d love get-together fic or future fic when Cathy becomes prime minister or even some out-there AU, like Cathy spikes the water supply and everyone gets mind-reading powers or wings.
I’m very familiar with the books, so if you want to do some blend of both, that’s great! I’m also fine with Bruno and Boots (or Bruno/Boots) being included, as long as Cathy and Diane get the spotlight.

Tanaka-kun is Always Listless
Ohta, Tanaka
Ever since I watched this show, I’ve been obsessed with the one scene where Tanaka says that everything wears him out and his body can’t survive without Ohta. Sure, Ohta immediately asks Tanaka to rephrase that, but it doesn’t mean that Tanaka’s wrong about the nature of their friendship. What immediately drew me to these two was the fact that they don’t seem to have known each other very long! How did they wind up falling into this friendship? Was Ohta a born rescuer? I'm 100% fine with pairing them and, in fact, encourage it.
Some specific scenarios I’d love to see for them:
- Something where Tanaka has to come to Ohta’s rescue
- Ohta and Tanaka’s sister fighting for Tanaka’s love
- Just cuddly slice of life stuff like the series, only with more kissing or more than kissing. Feel free to include any of the other characters in the series because I fell in love with everyone.
- Road trips might be nice. I was going to say Ohta would clearly have to do all the driving, but maybe it turns out Tanaka likes driving.
- What happens when they graduate high school? Do they wind up going to college together or separately, and if they’re separated, how does Tanaka cope?

Kimi to Boku | You and I
Asaba Yuuki, Tsukahara Kaname
This show is just so NICE. It’s so weird to see a show where teenagers really act like teenagers and their friendships aren’t always perfect or supportive, but you really do believe that they’re all friends. As for these two, I love that Yuuki knows exactly which of Kaname’s buttons to push and how hard and how he always, always manages to get a reaction. It’s obviously exactly what Yuuki wants.
I’d love something for just the two of them interacting. I don’t care if it’s a forced scenario, like getting locked in the student council room overnight, or if it’s something more natural, like the two of them being the only free ones one day. It’s fine if this is cute gen – if you’re caught up with the manga, there’s a recent bit where tired-from-cram-school Kaname keeps falling asleep in Yuuki and Yuuta’s apartment and anything along those lines would be adorable – or if you go for the pairing route. I really do think these two complement each other well, even if Kaname is annoyed by Yuuki at least 98% of the time. Yuuki mellows Kaname out, and Kaname forces Yuuki to have some motivation. And of course all their arguing is pretty hot.

Katsugeki! Touken Ranbu
Izuminokami Kanesada, Mutsunokami Yoshiyuki
Ahh, I’m so happy someone nominated this! It wouldn’t have even occurred to me to request it had I not seen it on the fandom list. Anyway, I should preface this by saying I haven’t played the games, but if you’re familiar with the games and want to do some anime/game blend thing, feel free. I fell pretty hard for these two from the first episode. It’s pretty bulletproof for me when one character says they get along with everyone EXCEPT THIS ONE OTHER CHARACTER, but by the end of the series they’re fighting together and exchanging high-fives. I love Kane-san and Mutsunokami working together, and I’d love to see more of them giving each other grief and supporting each other.
Some scenarios that might be interesting for them:
- An assignment in a more modern time frame.
- An AU scenario where they’re not the human embodiment of swords. Maybe Horikawa and Mutsunokami work together somewhere and Horikawa schemes to hook him up with his BFF, Izuminokami.
- Something where they learn more about the forces they’re fighting. It kind of bugged me that they have this cool enemy, but we know nothing about their motivations or even who’s controlling them. I KNOW that’s not really the point, but I can’t help wondering!
- Something where one of them is hurt in battle and they can’t get help, and the other one’s stuck nursing them back to health.
- Arguments and then the making up (or “making up”) afterward
