I’ve been writing up a storm lately, and it’s resulted in a lot of actual fic. Here’s a round-up, in case you don’t follow me on Tumblr or Twitter.

* Selfishness Must Always Be Forgiven, ACCA 13-ku Kansatsuka, Jean/Nino, Explicit, 5550 words - Set after episode 8, Jean tries to get Nino to realize their relationship is different from what Nino thinks it is.

* Without You, ACCA 13-ku Kansatsuka, Jean/Nino, Mature, 630 words - Set during episode 10, Jean does some stuff in front of an open window.

ACCA’s my new obsession, and before you can ask, no, it doesn’t stand for anything. But it has one of the best should-be-creepy-but-somehow-isn’t relationships I’ve ever seen, which is totally my jam, and has a surprisingly interesting main plot about politics and bread. If you’re at all interested in it, I recommend watching before reading my fics because they’ve both got huge spoilers. It's streaming on Crunchyroll, there are only two more episodes left, and I’m already grieving it ending.

* Detoxicated, Yuri!!! on ICE, Phichit/Chris, Victor/Yuri, implied other permutations therein, Mature, 1640 words - Phichit cracks the glass on his phone because of a literal run-in. Confession time: I also broke my phone recently, about a week before I wrote this, so there’s the very complicated writing inspiration process for you.

* A Lot of Heart, Prince of Tennis, Inui/Kaidoh, General Audiences, 5850 words - Inui gets recruited by the baseball team and actually quits tennis. Yep, writing in this again and having a great time, just deal with it.

And not mine, but for me because I'm very lucky: [personal profile] prillalar's Yuri on Ice tennis AU fanart is a thing of beauty. Oh, you didn't know Hal was an artist, too? You've been missing out.

In not-fic linking stuff, I’ve picked up a bunch of shows lately: March Comes in like a Lion, Powerless, Riverdale, Haikyuu!! (why so many exclamation points, anime?). Plus, [personal profile] barnacling and I did a trade off Skam and ACCA, so I’ll watch Skam after I finish Haikyuu. Though if I understand things correctly, I’m only supposed to watch one season of that? I don’t know how Norwegian shows work.

Also, I had most of last week off because of spring break from school, a vacation day, a snow day, and a day when my office was closed, which explains my “productivity” and I’m not looking forward to getting back to my regular packed schedule tomorrow. However, I’ve been sticking to a write for at least 15 minutes a day plan even on my normal days, and that produces around 500 words a day. So many words! I’m practically Stephen King.

Now that I've been back at work for a while, it's come to my attention that the two years I was at home were kind of non-time for me? As in, I kind of didn't realize the passage of time was happening. I blame it on sleep deprivation. Like, my days in Harry Potter fandom feel really long ago; I started my LJ nearly ten years ago and I was last active there in 2005, and that sounds right. On the other hand, I got into bandom nearly six years ago and it doesn't feel like six years at all, even though I pretty much left that fandom two years ago. Fucking time, what's your deal? No wonder I'm so baffled that Nate's 21 months old now. I even typed 20 months first!

I've been working on a fic for no reason at all, so that's exciting. I made myself promise I wouldn't do any fests this year other than Yuletide because I wind up resenting the parameters and the deadlines, and that's not fair to anyone. Of course, I also do fests in order to assure that I'll finish anything, but it's only work I like about half the time. If I write stuff just because I feel like writing, my personal success rate seems higher, though I finish less. But I also tentatively gave myself a 10,000 words per month goal, which doesn't sound like much, but it totally is for me. I'm a fast writer, but I can only carve out so much free time for it, so a writing goal of more than about 500 words a day is lofty at best and self-defeatingly frustrating at worst. Besides, if I actually hit it, I will have written about 10 times what I did last year.

Oh, I watched the Golden Globes last night and the main things I took away from it were that I'd be into Amy Poehler/George Clooney, and Anne Hathaway looked like she was wearing a sparkly bath towel. Also, I remembered I actually hate awards season, even though every year I convince myself I love it.

Not dead!

You'll be pleased(?) to know I didn't die from the blackout! I did have more stress than I remember having in forever, though, especially when Nate got sick. It was just a bad cold, but I convinced myself he had pneumonia or something else terrible. We have power again, though my dad, my brother and his girlfriend, my brother-in-law and his wife, and both of my aunts all don't, and we have a gas shortage, so travel is tough. Something like 600,000 PSE&G customers are still without power and that's only the biggest electric company in New Jersey. Never mind ConEd or JCP&L or what have you. It's been nearly a week! I'm not too hot on Mother Nature right now, is what I'm saying.

But the nice mods at the Teen Wolf fall festival gave me an extension, and my Yuletide assignment is A++++++ for me, so there's that. Also in all the excitement, I totally forgot to mention that I got a new job. It's perfect for me: an admin position in academia, nearby to my house and Nate's new daycare (sob), great benefits, nice coworkers, and an office that apparently orders a lot of free food. I worked for one week, then got an entire week off because of the power situation. I hope I haven't forgotten my week of training. D: But yay, job! Even if there's separation anxiety all up in my house now.

Oh, and even with my slow do every week twice method, I successfully ran Week 5, Day 1 of Couch-to-5K today. I feel very accomplished.

Had a few people email/text me about the storm, so updating. We're fine but haven't had power for over a day now. Luckily I have a smartphone and car charger, so have been checking in here and there, though obviously I can't feed my Internet addiction as I like. Also can't really access writing already on my computer, so that sucks. Mostly I'm bored and considering going to bed now even though it's only 9pm. :D

ETA: Now Thurs morn, still powerless. The lack of heat is starting to become a real issue, but some people in town got their power back yesterday, so hopeful today. Keep fingers crossed. Work canceled through Friday.

Oh crap, did I go two months without updating my LJ again? I didn't mean to do that, I swear.

Let's see, since I last updated... I got a new iPhone! That's good. My baby has gone from slowly becoming talkative to never shutting up oh my God. I thought because I have a physical kid -- and make no mistake, he's still a runner and a climber -- I wouldn't have a talker, too, but I do. None of the other boys his age (16 months) talk as much, so he talks to the girls and the adults. If you're into talking trains and airplanes and parks and animals with a toddler and his toddler-ese interpreter (aka me), come on over.

I also got addicted to Teen Wolf, like everyone else on the internet, but if you follow me on Tumblr, you already know that. I'm still addicted to comics and The Avengers, too. I even signed up for [livejournal.com profile] avengersfest! My assignment is... hmm. Challenging? Not bad, just not what I expected. I doubt anyone will guess it's me who wrote it, not that I know many people who signed up! But that's what happens when you've pretty much been out of fandom since 2010, right?

GOD I KNOW I HAD TONS TO TALK ABOUT AND NOW I CAN THINK OF NONE OF IT. DAMMIT, MARKS.

Oh! I know, I read Stephen King's On Writing book because of a post [personal profile] ignipes made, and it was a pretty decent read. I've got some bad habits when it comes to my writing, mainly procrastination and overplanning because I'm an outline-lover, and I've been trying to break myself of both for years. A lot of what he says is common sense, but I still came away from it with sort of a game plan? So we'll see what comes of that, especially since I really want to get back into fannish writing and also write some of my own stuff. Anyway, he's a fun writer, I recommend it, and even if you have no use for writing tips, there's a lot of biographical stuff that's plenty interesting.

Oh hi

I've been reading my friends list pretty much every day, so I thought I must have updated recently. But... nope!

Things of note:

- My iPhone is dead, I think. It got wet somehow, not from anything I did (best we can tell, baby might have got at it with his sippy cup, but we didn't SEE him do anything to it, so really, no clue) and now it won't turn on, even after a day in a bag of rice. I have an appointment to get it fixed/a replacement tomorrow, but it's weird not having a phone.
- I signed up for H/C bingo, which might or might not produce anything.
- Comics are still sucking up my life. I finished Ultimate everything -- yes, all 12 years of canon -- a couple of days ago, probably going to pick up Amazing Spider-Man now, too, even though the movie literally couldn't look less interesting to me. I'm not really an Andrew Garfield fan, and though I didn't really like the Raimi movies, they're so recent that I don't care that another one is coming out. MEH. I also got a bunch of Cosmic Marvel/Guardians of the Galaxy stuff because why not be ready for the next movie franchise years early??
- I almost signed up for [livejournal.com profile] avengers_rbb but none of the artwork really grabbed me. They were all either right up my alley art-wise, but not pairing or scenario wise, or just generally not inspiring. But it's not like I do that well with huge fic commitments anyway, so it's probably all for the best.
- The baby slowly becoming talkative is SO INTERESTING to me. Just today he came up with a game called "Mama Ideeng", which consists of him covering his face with his hands, pointing at me, and then saying, "Mama? Ideeng?", until I hide my face with my hands and play peekaboo with him. Ideeng is "hiding", in case you didn't get that. Baby's first verbs! And he's big now. :( He looks like a real boy instead of a baby. He even went to his first outdoor concert two weekends ago, for Miss Amy and Her Big Kids Band, which was hilarious because the drummer is named, no lie, Ryan Ross. I emailed Ash and Lea as we were leaving because I was so weirded out.

Just popping in to leave a link for all you fine people. I've been reading The Atlantic's "Y.A. for Grownups" columns for the last few weeks and I think they're a really interesting read. There's a new segment every Friday!

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/posts/ya-for-grownups/

The AV Club is also running a similar column called "YA Why?", but that's more of a special feature and isn't updated regularly. Still, it's here, for anyone who might be interested:

http://www.avclub.com/features/ya-why/

I'm sure you're all aware Young Adult novels are so hot right now, which makes me as someone who's probably consumed more Y.A. as an adult than I ever did as a teenager very happy indeed.

Duuuuuuuuude, what on earth did I walk into today?????

[livejournal.com profile] mousapelli threw me a virtual baby shower today, which meant I woke up to a confusing but lovely gift from [livejournal.com profile] midnitemaraud_r, made a mental note to thank her tonight, and then Sara sent me an e-card all LOL SURPRISE!, which it really was and when I shared my happy surprise with my husband he said, oh yeah, she told me all about that weeks ago. OH OKAY FINE BE THAT WAY. AND THAT'S WHEN THE TWO GIANT BOXES FILLED WITH PRESENTS WERE DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE.

Seriously, though LOOK AT ALL THIS STUFF )

Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] mousapelli for coordinating this, and to [livejournal.com profile] mousapelli and [livejournal.com profile] stealstheashes for collecting gifts and mailing them to me, and to all of you for being AMAZING. Best π day ever!

Anyway, could all of you listed above send me your real mailing addresses, unless you're like 90% sure I have them already? :D? My email is parselmouth@gmail.com.

I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] no_tags and so should you, particularly if you like any of the bandom pairings I'm more inclined to write. It's a quick turnaround, double-blind fest. You have until the 5th to prompt with your username screened, then you pick a prompt without knowing who made the prompt in the first place, then you have until the 12th to write. Then fics are posted, quick and easy. I was so sad about not being able to sign up last year, so I'm totally playing this year.

Anyway, my husband's been scanning in this box of old pictures I inherited from my grandmother after she died (five years ago, but they were just sitting around until now), and there's a hilarious number of pictures of my dad as a tiny child. Let me just say I'm really happy I wasn't going to Catholic school in the 1950's, as evidenced by his first grade ID picture:

Happy New Year, everyone! I'm very excited about 2011 for obvious reasons, and I hope this is going to be a great year.

Anyway, [livejournal.com profile] yuletide reveals are up. I haven't quite gotten around to reading everything I want yet, so expect the latest ever Yuletide recs post at some point. :D But I wrote three fics (yes, I got a little carried away at the end):

Christmas Wrapping - Parks and Recreation Gen, Leslie-centric with some Ron, 2422 words, G for [livejournal.com profile] emilys_list - Leslie tries to make having Christmas alone work. This was my original assignment and I looooved writing in Parks & Rec fandom. If you couldn't tell, I'm kind of gravitating toward sitcom fandoms now. And if you couldn't before, you will after the next two fics.

Tapdancing in a Minefield - Modern Family, Alex/McKenzie, 1579 words, PG for [livejournal.com profile] semirose - So, I was reading DYT letters and I saw that Semmi wanted a Modern Family fic about Alex a few years down the line questioning her sexuality and I thought yes, I want to write that. So I did! McKenzie actually isn't an OC, but she's close enough as she's never been on the show, but Haley's "I was McKenzie. I invented McKenzie" makes me laugh whenever I think about it, and there was my inspiration.

I guess this was my big fic this year? I was really surprised by the reaction I got to it. It's always the fics I write in a couple of hours that turn out that way. :D

Three Men and a Baby Minus a Man - Community, Abed/Troy-ish, 595 words, G for [livejournal.com profile] shoemaster - Shoe likes Troy/Abed and babies and so do I. So I wrote about Abed finding one. You know how it is.

Incidentally, Shoe and Lea had a whole conversation about this fic where I could see it and I had to sit on my hands and not yell IT WAS ME. So anyway, Shoe, IT WAS ME.

--

I'd also like to thank lightningwaltz and [livejournal.com profile] everysecondtues for my two wonderful A Softer World fics, and I want lists of all the strips that inspired you ASAP. :D

CHRISTMAS IS SO TIRING. I've been to my grandparents' house, my in-laws' house, my dad's apartment, a restaurant, and my aunt and uncle's apartment between yesterday and today, and now I'm ready to sleep until 2011.

Every person I haven't seen in a while went on and on about how great I looked, and while this is fantastic for my ego, I eventually realized that since I look pretty much the same as I did last year that this is actually code for "OMG, you're pregnant, but you haven't gained weight anywhere but your belly." Which is true, but you don't have to look so surprised about it.

At my aunt's house, some of my girl cousins and I were sitting around together chatting about Jersey Shore and skydiving and Power Rangers, and my youngest teenie cousin says she was never a Power Rangers girl because she was into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and you had to be one or the other, like you're either Harry Potter or Twilight. Now, teenie cousin is pretty much my clone minus ten years, so I already know she's a HP person and a bandom person (specifically a Ryan/Brendon person -- the things you learn googling your relatives), but our other cousin pipes up with "I like HP more, but I really only care about Harry/Draco." Seriously, I see this side of the family twice a year; is this stuff genetic? As far as I know, none of them are on LJ/DW currently, but maybe I'm about to get a surprise.

I really did have a fantastic couple of days, but SO FULL and SO TIRED.

Now to read my Yuletide gift before bed. I'm excited about it already: maybe next year is the year (maybe last year), a fic for A Softer World (!!!) with a summary that includes the words "dystopian government," which are like magic words to me. *__*

Yuletide recs coming, probably starting tomorrow!

So you might have noticed I've been MIA for a while. I wasn't really completely away, but writing up posts just seemed to be the last thing on my mind. In the last month, I've moved into a new house, found out I'm having a BOY, found out that my amniotic fluid is on the low side, which means lots and lots of ultrasounds, and wrote a decent amount of fic.

Fic Stuff
- I finished [livejournal.com profile] yuletide and I'm considering writing a treat for madness, but I don't know if I'll have the time. I have to wrap so many presents still, and my grandparents asked if our usual evening Christmas Eve get together could be bumped up to the afternoon, so I'm not sure. We'll see!
- I wrote a fic for [livejournal.com profile] boostlethon, which I type "boostlethong" every time. It's here. I also have to read and review the fic for me! I'll do that today, once I get back from a last-minute Toys 'R Us trip.
- I also wrote for [livejournal.com profile] sheldon_penny's Saturnalia exchange, which you might have seen yesterday. That's posted here.

No bandom at all! That said, I still have a few more fics I owe people, bandom included. I may also do [livejournal.com profile] no_tags, since I was so sad about missing out last year. I mean, I might as well get in all the writing I can before spring rolls around and I have a little dependent thing taking up all my time. :D

Moving Stuff

- Moving is always tiring, but about ten times more when pregnant. I know, I know, great revelations. :D Either way, my house is beaaaaaautiful. I walk around going "I love my house!" all the time. Well, not out loud, but it's a close call. And our new furniture and appliances have all been delivered and we're almost unpacked already! Pretty good for only living here two weeks.

Baby Stuff

- Yes, Baby is a BOY. And a show-off. Like I said, I have slightly low amniotic fluid (which went up as of my last checkup \o/), which they found at my 20 week anatomy scan. I was really closer to 21 weeks then, now I'm at 25 weeks. Anyway, that means I got sent to the hospital for a scan on a better ultrasound machine and also that I got to start my "go every two weeks" checks about ten weeks earlier than I'd originally expected. That also means that I've had four ultrasounds since Thanksgiving, and kid has a personality. At the last one, the tech was like "oh, I hope you know what you're having" because the baby was like LOOK AT MY PENIS as soon as they started scanning me. [livejournal.com profile] drunktuesdays said I'm carrying the spirit of Pete Wentz, which is a horrifying thing to say to an expecting mother. Once he was done showing off, he looked straight at the camera and had his hands on either side of his face. My husband said he looked like he was pointing at us all TONIGHT, YOU. I love my creepy baby.
- Low fluid or not, the baby's anatomy is 100% great and he already weighs about 1.8 pounds. \o/ Just stay in there for three more months, kiddo.
- Now that holiday stuff is winding down, I can start focusing on baby stuff and jeez, we need a lot of stuff. BABIES NEED A LOT OF STUFF, DID YOU KNOW?
- He just kicked me for the ten thousandth time this morning.

...Yeah, that was long. I really have to update more often.
marks: unce unce unce (Default)
I wanted to make a comics post, but I have... Jesus, 15 books unread at the moment. Maybe I'll get to them tomorrow? :\ Stupid backlog. My ability to write anything at all has also dried up completely, so I feel like I'm in LJ limbo. Hence the rarely updating thing.

I have been watching a lot of TV! The new season's going swimmingly so far; I really like Hellcats and Nikita so far, the new season of The Vampire Diaries is all I could have asked for, Mad Men has been more interesting to me because Don's basically at rockbottom and I love that, and I enjoyed the premiere of Boardwalk Empires more than I thought I would. Really, I was only interested because of Steve Buscemi and seeing Michael Pitt get work again, but I got totally sucked into the show in the first fifteen minutes. So I recommend it.

Personally, things have also been going swimmingly. Baby-in-progess is fine. I feel okay, just tired and nauseated. I haven't gained any weight yet, but I have gone up a cup size. I keep looking down and going, "WHERE DID THOSE COME FROM?" Hello, boobs, you are large. First ultrasound next Tuesday! I'm excited to see something I can barely make out. :D

Also, we bought a house! Some of you might remember we almost bought last year, but that ultimately fell through and we decided to hold off for a time. Well, that time is apparently now. :D The sellers signed our contract today and it's heading into attorney review. I have a lawyer and a husband, and I'm going to have a house and a baby. It's so weird to think about, but my life is seriously the best it's ever been.

I smell of coconut, but I'm not sure if it's from my sunscreen or the coconut rum I've been drinking. Oh well.

Happy 4th of July, Americans! I've only been half-reading LJ/DW lately because I've been doing a million things, but I hope you're having a good Sunday whether or not it's a national holiday where you are. ♥

(Oh, but I'm currently obsessing over Pretty Little Liars, both tv show and books. I RECOMMEND THE TERRIBLE BOOKS. SEE: MY SUBJECT LINE.)

In unrelated news, today I met a Shih-tzu named Batman.

I'm really going to try to make a post one of these days that doesn't include half a dozen bulletpoints or a hasty link before I run off somewhere else. Today is not that day.

* No puppy for me right now. :( Our landlord nixed our big plans, but eh, we've revived the house hunting again. Another resolution I'm trying to make is keeping my LJ updated when my RL plans fall through. This happens frequently, so get used to it! \o/ Like how I was supposed to get a root canal today, only to be told there's still a slight infection at the site so I have to wait until Friday morning. SO IF I HAVE A PUFFY FACE WHEN I SEE SOME OF YOU THIS WEEKEND, THAT WOULD BE WHY. :\ I'm really unhappy about this, but what can you do?

* But the temporary absence of a dog in my life is made better by [livejournal.com profile] absenteye, who made me a lulzy Pete/Ashlee manip and a warrior princess Ashlee manip. She's so adorable. :D

* Travis McCoy started streaming his solo project on MySpace today, so I ripped it. It's very danceable and, for the most part, very good. The last song is shaky even though I'm pretty sure it's a joke, but I'm digging "Superbad" and "Need You." I can't get a rip of Need You without a skip, just to warn you. download | stream

* I also listened to Rooney's new album and it's pretty meh. Sorry, dudes. But if you want to listen before it officially drops next week, it's streaming here.

* Greenwald is a huge, huge creeper, but also kind of cute with Greta. Remember when they shared a bus for three months?

* Last but far from least, SEEING CONAN O'BRIEN LIVE WAS AMAZING. Of course, getting to see him and Andy and the band was wonderful and funny, but I got a little sad when New York's surprise band was Vampire Weekend (I was hoping for... uh, anyone other than Vampire Weekend). Two seconds after that, though, the special guest stars started rolling in fast and furious. Stephen Colbert wandered out, told off Andy, and challenged Conan to a dance-off which featured some of the worst-best dancing I've ever seen. Then Colbert was DEFEATED! So of course from the back of Radio City came Jon Stewart, wearing a gold sequined cummerbund to defend Colbert's honor. It was just amazing. We also got Bill Hader doing his Stefan-the-club-kid impression, John Krasinski, and Paul Rudd. I was pretty much giddy when the show ended.

Jesus, the internet is boring today. I haven't even been around much! I've got six hours to kill before I can start the ~Lost finale event~ with any sort of DVR buffer, and it's a good thing I'm going out again in an hour because everything is sloooow. I guess I'll finally start catching up with The Vampire Diaries when I get back unless everyone suddenly gets fabulously interesting.

Anyway, I did this meme!

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee.

48 hours of ignoring LiveJournal, dear God. I don't even remember the last time I did that. Anyone want to take bets on what number skip= I'll be up to when I give up out of boredom? I'm thinking 150. Maybe less.

Things I've done:
* WATCHED BASKETBALL!
* went to the gym
* hemmed pants???
* betaed
* looked at pictures of Patrick Stump, Travis McCoy, TYV, and The Like
* wrote not as much as I wanted, but wrote something and might go write something else now
* ate sushi
* bought new jeans and a new jacket
* watched the BBC's "Misfits" which I can't recommend highly enough and now I can't wait for the second series
* watched the first episode of S2 of United States of Tara and GOD DAMN, I missed that show

Uh. Yeah, maybe I should do these hiatuses more often.

Anyone have anything awesomely good or bad happen to them this weekend?

I think I'm taking the weekend off LJ, Twitter, Tumblr, etc. because I need a break from social networking and it's supposed to be a beautiful weekend. If anyone needs me, I'll still be reachable via email because I'll be writing and betaing and I need the internet to follow March Madness. God, I love college basketball and I've got two #1 seeds playing tonight to root for.

But I'll leave you with this: on my drive home today I was following a car that had ZPF as part of the license plate and I thought "Oh, Z Person Fic" as though that made any sense. All fic about Z Berg all the time!

First, serious stuff:

1. I don't have a Facebook, but if I did, I'd totally do this:

http://glockgal.livejournal.com/453498.html

Facebook, that is ridiculous. And infuriating.

ETA: It's been restored! Quite possibly even before I made this post last night. Um. :D:

2. If you're going to make stupid posts like this, at least don't later disable comments because people are disagreeing with you. Are you kidding me? You are not GOB and it is not hard being white.

3. Has everyone else been following the ACLU case about the Mississippi school that canceled prom rather than let a lesbian student attend with her girlfriend? I swear, America is on a daily crusade to make my blood pressure rise.

--

Second, fun stuff:

1. I really like Young Veins (Die Tonight). And when I say I really like it, I mean I like it more than Change or The Other Girl and I forced myself to wait a day to make this post so I wouldn't freak out all over my poor LJ flist. You all mean that much to me. In other TYV happy news, shirtless Jon Walker and OMG JON HAS A CAMERA AND THEY'RE ON TOUR IN A VAN YESSSS.

2. Gold Motel is coming to NJ in May. \o/ \o/ \o/ I will see you at Maxwell's, Greta, so I can once again feel like I'm standing far too close to you and maybe I'll be able to blurt out something like "yousoundedgreat" again. Though I'll miss Chris awkwardly informing me the weather's pretty good and me not knowing how to respond.

3. I meant to say this the other day, but The Butcher's solo project, The Animal Upstairs, is great so far. I've had "Fail and Fall" stuck in my head since I first heard it. Butcher's voice is really lovely, and it sounds more like TAI than I would have expected. Rio said something about expecting something more out there and artsy, and I agree with her. But the songs are still good and you should download them!

4. EVERYONE SHOULD GO VOTE FOR JAIME REYES, REBECCA LOGAN, AND SUN KWON at [livejournal.com profile] coc_m_madness! Because they're great. Though if you're as conflicted as Katarin and I were in deciding between Uhura and Sisko, I can't blame you.

5. I love all of you. ♥

You guys can have your Olympic coverage, but other than noticing how cute all the women's snowboarders are (and seriously, SO CUTE; I fell in love at least a dozen times), I spent my free time obsessing over NY Fashion Week. I can't believe they're not going to have the tents at Bryant Park anymore, not like my life is affected either way. Still! They're a tradition.

I particularly liked the Milly by Michelle Smith and Erin Fetherston collections, plus a few others here and there (Ralph Lauren, Tadashi Shoji, Doo.Ri, Marc Jacobs), and I generally approve of the fall 2010 trends, minus all the fur and the one sleeve/one bare arm looks. I mean, how often do you have one cold arm and one warm arm in October?

But really, nothing can possibly top this picture of Ed Westwick and Penn Badgley at Tommy Hilfiger. Chuck Bass, so thoroughly delighted with the scores of hot people surrounding him; Dan Humphrey, so sulky. So predictable, so amazing.

Have you ever thought to yourself, "Hey, you know what I could really use? A cardigan covered in ejaculating penises in a crossbones pattern."

No? Oh, okay. :(

P.S. - I don't really have strong feelings about horror movies, but if it's wrong to think Spencer Smith covered in fake cuts and bruises is hot, then I don't want to be right.

Success!

Yeah, this is kind of a half-assed entry, but this is my 31st consecutive day posting to Livejournal, so I successfully met my goal of posting every day for a month. I'm glad to see the other end of January, to be honest. Do you realize just how long January is? It goes on and on and on.

But I submitted my Inui/Kaidoh fic and finished my icon set for [livejournal.com profile] loveyouallwrong, so yay for that. My husband and I also broke out the slow cooker for the first time and made some pork tenderloin thing (he did most of the work), and it was delicious, if a little dry. Maybe we should have tried something more liquid-based for our first time out, but whatever. Delicious sandwiches all week!

And tonight, the Grammys, my favorite award show to get mad at.

Hey, Lea!

Can we make these for your birthday, [livejournal.com profile] loveyouallwrong? And before anyone can get up-in-arms on Kermit's behalf again, it's okay to eat cookie versions of him.

And I swear, James Montgomery's official title over at MTV is hard-hitting news reporter. Oh Gabe.

Oh, and thank you for the virtual gift, anonymous! ♥

Jon Walker is my favorite person today! Not only did he link one of my favorite Built to Spill songs ever, but he also confirmed that TYV is touring the U.S. in March and April with details to come. Yay. \o/

So I wrote some Ryan/Jon porn to commemorate that! Oh fine, I really wrote it a couple of days ago, but I just posted it to the porn battle:

Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me, Ryan/Jon, R, 917 words, prompts: in public, wall, kneel. If I'm supposed warn for snowballing and cockslapping, then there's your warning, but it's honestly not that graphic. Comments always welcome! :D I think you can use Open ID with your LJ account over there if you don't have DW account.

I also stole a meme from [livejournal.com profile] stealstheashes. Pick your five favorite TV shows (in no particular order) and answer the following questions. Don't cheat! (I cheated a little, but it's not like I remembered what questions corresponded to what. Also, these aren't really my five favorite TV shows, just five shows currently on-the-air that I watch.)

1. The Vampire Diaries
2. Greek
3. Community
4. Criminal Minds
5. Gossip Girl

BAD: Oh Conan. :( Your last show really did make me a little teary. I'll happily follow you guys wherever you wind up in September (seriously, Fox, don't be dumb and let that opportunity pass you by). And one day I'll figure out why Cheap Trick's "Surrender" gets me choked up and it always has. What's up with that?

GOOD: Surprisingly, Caprica! I really wasn't expecting anything going in and was just watching because of Battlestar Galactica fondness, but it was a really good pilot and I'm already shipping Eric Stoltz's robot daughter with her best friend. Plus, baby Commander Adama! Awww.

This. If I have little girls, I'm so figuring out how to make them superhero fleece capes. Look how heroic they both look.

- I downloaded a... perfectly legal copy of Sherlock Holmes, and I got really excited when it turned out to have high quality visuals, but it's also dubbed into French. Which is funny in its own way, but I think I need to find an English version.

ETA: PROBLEM SOLVED.

- One more scene and my [livejournal.com profile] inukai_exchange fic is done! Then editing editing editing. It really needs it. :(

- Today's the last day to submit prompts on the Porn Battle! Posting starts up on Sunday. [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis also set up a Porn Battle collection on AO3 with subcollections for all past rounds. I uploaded all of my ficlets from past years and it turns out I'm a liar saying I only make the winter battle. My participation is apparently arbitrary, but as of right now I'm the only one who's uploaded a ficlet from PB I. All by myseeeeeeelf. :(

From LJ [livejournal.com profile] news:

- "Beginning next week, from Thursday, January 28th, 4pm, through Saturday, January 30th, 3:59pm, PST, we'll donate 100 percent of the proceeds from all vgift sales to CARE and UNICEF (we'll cover the credit card processing fees)."

- "We'll be taking down the site for a few hours this Friday evening, from around 7pm to 10pm, PST, to perform backend maintenance. Depending on where you live, this window will fall between Friday and Saturday, January 22nd to 23rd." (BOO.)

It's Porn Battle Time again! I know [livejournal.com profile] oxoniensis does this twice a year, but for some reason it's only the winter one that I ever manage to participate in. I haven't made my prompts yet but I've been compiling some and I plan on writing, too, so if you're in any fandoms I'm in, read the rules and go make some prompts. One day I will learn how to spell Signe's LJ/DW name without having to look it up first, mark my words.

I updated my delicious recs today, too. It's pretty much just a compilation of everything I've recced here over the last couple of months, but because I was catching up with the holiday fic season, I added about 40 links. Never let me do that again.

And now I have the hiccups. >:(
